Don't

I had another dream about my mom
And she was driving wrong
She had a cigar - unlit
She told me "son you're gonna lose your mind
Unless you go and fly"
Or else you'll fall in the pit
The pit had crabs and they were pinching-mad
And one looked just like dad
Except he looked like he cried
And only later did I see for what
My brother lost his guts
And it was because he lied
We're saying farewell
Because you'll burn in Hell
And when I will, you won't
Because I do, you don't
And so I took a plane to other lands
I didn't have a plan
He said he'd help me later
She took a skirt and put a dress on me
Except that all I see
Is someone lying - faker
I laughed at everything that I had built
My romance and goodwill
And then I burned it slowly
But just as I was gonna do my hair
They said "GET OUT OF THERE"
And so I walked back, lowly
You're saying farewell
Because I'll burn in Hell
And when you will, I won't
Because you do, I don't
We gave up laughing, had a drink or two
I saw what I could do
I felt a remorse, pounding
I didn't miss the makeup or the fools
I missed my freedom's tools
And now I felt like drowning
I called up Guo and said "I need a lift"
New reasons to exist
And drove away at midnight
Another chance to have a life again
To have a wife and friends
And that's when I saw the light
I'm saying farewell
Because we'll burn in Hell
And when we do, we won't
Because we will, we don't
I'm saying farewell
Because we'll burn in Hell
And when we do, we won't
Because we will, we don't

The Art of Giving Up
02:41
|
|

I'd like to understand my mind
And all the things it makes me hate
I make believe that life is oh-so fine
And I promise myself I'm great
I can't conceive a world worth working towards
When the world has other work to do
I can't pretend an audience exists
When I was acting just for you
I feel like something needs to change
But it's addicting to screw it up
I picked to hold your hand and love
When I could have picked to run
And now there's ringing in my ears
And the bills are on the desk
And it's hard to picture a future
When I've got to clean up this mess
I can't conceive a world worth working towards
When the world has other shit to do
I can't pretend an audience exists
When I was giving it up for you
